چکیده

It is now well established that galaxies have different morphologies, gas contents, and star formation rates (SFR) in dense environments like galaxy clusters. The impact of environmental density extends to several virial radii, appear be pre-processed filaments groups before falling into the cluster. Our goal quantify this pre-processing terms content SFR, as a function cosmic filaments. We observed two first CO transitions 163 with IRAM-30 m telescope, added 82 more measurements from literature, thus forming sample 245 around Virgo gathered HI-21cm literature 69 Nançay telescope complete our sample. compare filament comparable samples cluster isolated AMIGA find clear progression field for decreasing increasing fraction quenching phase, an proportion early-type galaxies, content. Galaxies defined having SFR below one-third main sequence (MS), are only between 0% 20% sample, according local density, while they 20%–60% 30%–80% Processes lead already at play filaments; depend mostly on distance spine secondary parameter. While HI-to-stellar-mass ratio decreases by order magnitude filaments, orders respect field, decrease much less H 2 -to-stellar-mass ratio. As increases, depletion time decreases, because faster than SFR. This suggests precedes quenching.

The VIRGO injection system

The VIRGO injection system, designed to provide a stable single-frequency 20 W laser to the VIRGO interferometer, is under commissioning. All functions have been demonstrated to work close to requirements, and the integration of all of them is in progress.

The Status of Virgo

The commissioning phase of the fullVirgo gravity-wave interferometric detector started in September 2003, and is still progressing. This activity is intended to achieve a stable operation of the detector, at its design strain sensitivity, in the frequency bandwidth extending from about 10 Hz up to a few kHz, with a value of a few 10−23 around 500 Hz. In October 2004 the interferometer was locke...

HIGH LATITUDE GAMMA RAYS ASSOCIATED WITH VIRGO

A more detailed analysis is made of the energy spectrum of the diffuse component of extragalactic gamma rays over the range of 0.3- 10 GeV, obtained fromthe EGRET instrument at the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. The derived excess energy spectrum of high galactic latitude, b > 60°, using intercept method shows that it is correlated with Virgo cluster (over lsr) and average Virgo intensity i...

The Herschel Virgo Cluster Survey*

We present a resolved dust analysis of three of the largest angular size spiral galaxies, NGC 4501 and NGC 4567/8, in the Herschel Virgo Cluster Survey (HeViCS) science demonstration field. Herschel has unprecedented spatial resolution at far-infrared wavelengths and with the PACS and SPIRE instruments samples both sides of the peak in the far infrared spectral energy distribution (SED). We pre...

The WSRT Virgo Filament Survey

In the last few years the realization has emerged that the universal baryons are almost equally distributed by mass in three components: (1) galactic concentrations, (2) a warm-hot intergalactic medium (WHIM) and (3) a diffuse intergalactic medium. These three components are predicted by hydrodynamical simulations and are probed by QSO absorption lines. To observe the WHIM in neutral hydrogen, ...
